Fourth of July without fireworks is like Birthdays without a party (you get the idea). But just like in any celebration, accidents and injuries can get in the way of fun if we are not careful and vigilant enough.

Here are some grim statistics from Life Safe Foundation:

  • According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 9,000 people in the U.S. were treated in 2009 for fireworks-related injuries.

  • About two-thirds of fireworks injuries are from backyard or Class C fireworks such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, and Roman candles, which are illegal in some states.

  • Sparklers account for many burn injuries in children under five. Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees – hot enough to melt some metals.

After seeing those statistics, we bet you will all agree- we all want a safe and happy Fourth of July. As we celebrate our nation’s freedom today, why not put safety first before anything else?

Take a look at the infographic below to learn more statistics on fireworks injury and get some Firework Safety Tips to avoid firework-related injuries.
